LOVED ones were remembered as families planted sunflowers in their memory.
St Michael’s Hospice hosted its annual Sunflower Service on Sunday where families who had a loved one at the hospice were given the opportunity to plant a sunflower for them in the garden of the Aldermaston Road facility.
Supporters who attended the event enjoyed singing from Ooh Mama Ladies Choir before hospice chaplain Tom Honey spoke and blessed the sunflowers which had been planted in the gardens.
Vice patron Mark Dolby also moved the gathered crowd with a reading of the poem We Remember Them.
After the blessing, supporters were treated to a cream tea, enjoyed playing games and browsed the hospice plant stall.
This year the event raised £20,600 which will go towards the continued to support help the running of the hospice.
