DESPITE concerns from parents around student revision session, Year 11 pupils at Fort Hill Community School are on track for a record high in GCSE results.

The current crop of Year 11 students are the last who will study for their GCSEs at the Kenilworth Road site and have been predicted some of the highest results in the school’s recent history.

Jane Aplin, headteacher at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College (CBEC), which runs the Fort Hill site said: “We are all really grateful to our teaching staff, who go the extra mile to get the best results for all Cranbourne students, over both sites.

"You really can’t fault their commitment when they are voluntarily giving up their holidays to teach and help our Year 11s, who are working super hard for their exams.”

During the exam period, transport will be laid on for students to get to the CBEC site to sit their exams.

Staff and students at Fort Hill believe the high prediction is due to combining the teaching talents of Cranbourne and Fort Hill staff.

Head girl at Fort Hill Sophie Nash said: “I feel as though this change has been massively beneficial for everybody.

“Us students have worked tirelessly in the hope to achieve the best possible GCSE grades. Without the support from staff, extra revision and required facilities it would’ve been a massive challenge. So, I am extremely appreciative and thankful for these privileges.”

The Fort Hill site is due to close once this year’s exams are finished with a leavers’ event for students and families organised for the end of June.

The school we will also open to the community for an afternoon to give students and staff past and present the opportunities to share memories and celebrate the history of the school.
