THE fifth of eight arches designed to draw attention to the shops and businesses off Andover's High Street has been unveiled.

The Waterloo Court arch, located on Bridge Street, bids to improve the overall look of the area and provide a sense of identity for the town.

It joins the recently installed George Yard, Union Street and Globe Yard arches as well as another Waterloo Court arch on the High Street by the Chantry Centre.

Test Valley Borough Council originally planned to install seven arches but it commissioned the Bridge Street arch following a request from businesses at the opposite end of Waterloo Court.

Leader of the council, Councillor Phil North, said: “We continue to make good progress on the arches. We have some great business located just off the High Street and I am pleased that they are being given greater prominence.

"I think it is a really positive sign that businesses on Bridge Street requested their own arch. I look forward to the council installing the remaining arches over the coming months, as we continue to work with property owners, tenants and legal teams to progress them as quickly as possible.”
