THE warm weekend weather leant itself perfectly for a refreshing drink, and thirsty Overton residents were in for a treat.

The second Overton Beer Festival took place from Friday to Sunday in St Mary’s Hall, in High Street, on some of the hottest days so far this year.

The first event took place last year after a group of friends decided they wanted to bring back a beer festival after the official CAMRA event stopped running.

Following the success of last year, the group decided to go at it again this year to another great reception.

Over 20 names of beer were available for drink aficionados, as well as the return of the popular Prosecco bar.

This year also saw the introduction of the first session on the Sunday, designed to be a quieter event for punters who wanted a drink in less of a festival atmosphere.

There was also entertainment from musicians.

Andover-based covers band Runaway Train started the event in style on Friday, and Gary Myles returned after last year to rock on the Saturday evening.

There was also the opportunity for festivalgoers to purchase two-pint cartons of their favourite drinks from the festival to take home.

As with the previous year, there will be a contribution from the event’s takings that will be donated to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The total is being tallied.
