THE final weekend of the snow-affected Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival will take place at the end of the month.

The string section of the festival will take place at Queen Mary's College, on April 28 and 29, having been postponed from early March due to snow.

The section offers a varied programme showcasing instrumentalists of all ages performing on violins and violas as well as guitars and harps.

On the Sunday of the section, from 3.30pm, a short gala performance and overall awards ceremony will conclude the 2018 Basingstoke Music and Arts Festival.

The performance will highlight some of the very best of our 2018 performances and each of the overall eight overall winners will be presented with a trophy and certificate by the mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Councillor Paul Frankum, before performing a short piece.

Everyone is welcome to attend both days of performances.

Entry fees for audience members to the string classes are £5 all day or £3 for a morning or afternoon only ticket, while children under 16 go free.

Entry to the gala performance is £5, concessions £4 and children under 16 go free.
