FOR the past 10 years, Jan Jack’s Laughter-House Comedy Club has provided Basingstoke with a host of evenings full of chuckles.

With a regular monthly spot at the Red Lion Hotel in the Top of The Town, the Laughter-House has seen the likes of Zoe Lyons, Milton Jones, Paul Tonkinson, Danny Dawes and Jonny Awsum all gracing the stage.

However, the popularity of the evenings has grown show much that from April, Laughter-House will be making itself at home at the Apollo Hotel, on the Aldermaston Road roundabout.

Jan said: “It’s been a tough decision. I’m sad that we have to leave The Red Lion. They welcomed us when we were just starting out and their staff have been fabulous. We will always be grateful for their support.

“With demand for tickets being so high, however, we find we’re disappointing customers who had planned to come. We simply have to face the fact that we’ve outgrown our existing venue.”

With the move to the new venue, Jan hopes to continue to bring some of the brightest up and coming names in comedy to Basingstoke, as well as some well-established stars.

She added: “There’s a lovely vibe at their hotel. Like ourselves, they’re passionate about customer care, and they contribute so much to the Basingstoke community.”

“We feel confident that with the facilities available at Apollo we will be able to continue to grow.”

Apollo Hotel manager Paul Fearon said: “We pride ourselves on making a positive contribution to the local community through our services and events, and I love comedy. Jan’s Laughter-House has a fantastic reputation so her comedy club is a perfect fit for us.”

The last show at The Red Lion Hotel will be on Thursday, 8 March featuring Andrew Lawrence, with the first show at the Apollo Hotel on Thursday, 12 April featuring Nathan Caton.
