A BEAUTY queen from Baughurst is organising a glamorous party in a bid to raise money for charity.

Georgina Lawrence, the reigning Miss Teen Hampshire Galaxy, is aiming to raise £1,000 for charity by hosting a black and white party at Theale Community Centre, in Englefield Road.

The event is part of the 17-year-old’s charity drive for this year’s pageant, which takes place on March 24.

She has already raised more than £700 for the Christie Charity, which specialises in cancer care, research and education.

Georgina told The Gazette: “Last year I didn’t do as much of the charity side of things as I would have liked, so I wanted to put on a big event this year.

“There will be lots of things for people to do, including a photobooth with props, a live band and a big prize raffle, but most importantly I just want people to have fun.”

There will be many of the girls who competed in the Galaxy Pageant UK both on a national and international stage at the event, but the Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) student said it is a night for everyone.

Georgina said being part of the pageants has helped her grow in confidence.

Because of this she is looking to do campaign work around conservation work in Baughurst as well as doing work around raising awareness of type one diabetes, which she suffers from.

She added: “Two or three years ago I was an incredibly quite person, I would barely speak in school and one of my biggest fears was talking on the phone, so I wouldn’t have been able to talk to you (in an interview).

But doing pageants has given me the confidence to do new things and I have made some true friends for life.”

The party will be held on March 2, from 7.30pm with tickets costing £15.
