TRAUMA from a collision on the road led to the death of a pensioner, a coroner has ruled.

Joan Isabella Pinchin, 84 of St Michael’s Road, was involved in a collision with an Audi on September 23, 2017, in Kempshott Lane as she exited Homesteads Road in her Nissan Micra.

An inquest held at Basingstoke Coroners Court on Tuesday heard how Mrs Pinchin had been in Southampton General Hospital for 15 days after the collision, but succumbed to bronchopneumonia.

Mrs Pinchin’s daughter Sam Burt told the court her mother was adamant the driver of the Audi was driving too fast and he indicated to turn into the junction.

However, there was no evidence presented during the hearing to support this.

North East Hampshire coroner Andrew Bradley recorded a verdict of accidental death.

He said: “Her death was a result of the trauma she had been through.
