AS MANY people look to get into shape in the new year, a new easy-tofollow fitness class has launched in Basingstoke.

The Jungle Body fitness programme brings together a hybrid of beat-driven training fusing dance, boxing, cardio and sculpting.

Now, thanks to Funk and Twist Fitness, Basingstoke has got its first taste of Jungle Body, launching its KONGA programme on Saturday, 13 January.

Funk and Twist Fitness founder Selina Waissen said the programme is suitable for people of all abilities.

The 33-year-old said: “Even though it is a high energy workout, the moves are quite simple and it suits people who are into dance or aren’t very active.

“The feedback I got from the launch was amazing; everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the atmosphere in the room was incredible.”

The fitness craze, which started in Australia, consists of five different programmes including KONGA.

After a successful launch, and weekly classes now planned, Selina hopes that the demand will lead to classes in the other disciplines including TYGA which combines easy-to-do dance moves with fitness concepts and BURN which incorporates dumbbells with movements that are dance inspired.

Participants took to social media to praise the opening of the class.

Shona Renee Bell said: “This class was so much fun, I normally find exercise boring. The music was spot on and it really got me motivated as well as the instructor.”

The first weekly class will take place today at Brookvale Village Hall in Lower Brook Street, between 7pm – 8pm.
