AS PEOPLE head back to work after the festivities motorists are being advised to think about their journey times because of roadworks.

Highways England is due to carry out roadworks on the M3 between January 2 and January 7.

At junction 6 for Basingstoke, work will be carried out to strength the bridge. Repairs to the bridge supports continues, with narrow lanes in place 24/7 on the roundabout beneath the M3 until March 2018.

Also at junction 2 for Farnborough improvements will be made to the 13.4 mile smart motorway section between junction 2 and 4a.

These improvements will allow the newly opened smart motorway to set the speed limit to match conditions, help spot any queuing traffic, incidents or broken-down vehicles, and informs drivers about conditions ahead.
