A MAN spent Christmas Eve in hospital after being assaulted in a wooded area off Cliddesden Road.
Police received reports of an assault off Cliddesden Road, near Queen Mary’s College, at around 4.35pm on December 24.
A 48-year-old man was attacked and had to be taken to Basingstoke hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are described as minor.
Detective Constable Brent Williams said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may be able to assist us with our investigation.
“We know that this wooded area is used by dog walkers – did you see what happened?”
A 33-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested in connection with this incident. He has been released from custody but remains under investigation.
