A BASINGSTOKE-based care provider has kept its ‘good’ rating with the care watchdog.

Mayfair Homecare Basingstoke, based in Winchester Street, has received its first rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) since being bought by Sevacare.

Mayfair provides a domiciliary care service to enable people in Basingstoke and the surrounding areas to maintain their independence at home.

Previously, the service was known as Basing Care, and achieved a ‘good’ in all areas from the CQC and in the latest report, published on November 27 after an inspection on August 31 and September 8, the provider scored ‘good’ in all areas, apart from in the caring category, scoring an ‘outstanding.’ The 32 staff members were praised in the report, which highlighted the effort they went to.

Part of the report reads: “People were supported by staff who made them feel safe. People and relatives told us the continuity and consistency of staff was very good, which reassured them and lessened their anxiety. People were kept safe by staff who understood their roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding procedures and how to protect people from harm and abuse.”

Registered manager Teresa Savage said: “I’m really super proud of everyone here for their efforts. It is absolutely amazing to keep being ‘good’ and moving to ‘outstanding’ in the care section.

"It is really is great to hear about the good side of care.

“We are always pushing for outstanding, and have several ideas on how we get there, we are always looking to improve.”

Mayfair will also be providing some of the people they visit with a special festive treat. They are currently making ten hampers of Christmas food, including mince pies, for some of their clientele who have no-one else to be with at Christmas.

Teresa added: “It’s a small gesture for us but that can make all the difference at this time of year. We know who we’re going to be delivering to, which means we can tailor the gifts individually.”

Another part of the report referring to the caring of the staff read: “People were consistently treated with kindness and compassion in their everyday care by staff who responded to their needs quickly. People valued their relationships with staff and felt that they often went the extra mile for them when providing care and support, which made them feel well cared for.”
