THIEVES stole a man’s phone and wallet during an incident near Basingstoke town centre.

A 23-year-old victim was walking through Glebe Gardens at around 10pm on Monday, 13 November, when he was approached by two other men.

One of the men asked if he had a lighter. After he lit the men’s cigarettes, he turned to walk away, but was then grabbed from behind.

The thieves had searched the victim’s pockets and made off with two iPhone 7s and a wallet containing bank cards and a small amount of cash, running off in the direction of St Michael’s Church.

Police have reported that one of the men is described as white, more than 6ft tall, of medium build and with a tanned complexion.

The other man is described as black, around 5ft 10ins tall, of slim build and wore a silver metal watch on his left wrist.

Both men are described as wearing dark clothing, including gloves and hooded tops with the hoods up.
