OAKLEY held its annual Act of Remembrance on the weekend.
Oakley and Deane Parish Council held the act at St John’s Garden of Remembrance in East Oakley on November 12. Around 300 villagers attended, where wreaths were laid by the chairman, the Armed Forces, Royal British Legion, the junior school, and the Oakley Scout Group.
Also attending to lay a wreath was a former member of the Women’s Land Army, Mary Celano. The 96-year-old laid a wreath to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Land Army.
