TWO teenagers have been arrested after a man sustained facial injuries in an unprovoked attacked.

A 19-year-old man was targeted by a group of youths in Castons Yard car park, in New Road, on November 5 at 7.15pm.

The man was in the car park behind the McDonalds at the Top of The Town, heading in the direction of the Southern Road car park, when he saw a group of about 8-10 youths who started to shout and threaten him.

Officers reported that the victim began to head back in the direction he came from, when three people in the group ran towards him and attacked him.

During the altercation, the man sustained cuts and bruises to the face, as well as a broken tooth.  

The assault only stopped when a family intervened to help the victim.

Police wish to speak to this family or any other witnesses, as they may have information, which may be vital to the investigation.

A 13-year-old boy from Basingstoke and a 17-year-old boy of no fixed address have been arrested on suspicion of assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm.

Both of the people arrested have been released from custody but remain under investigation.
