CHILDREN, staff and parents have celebrated its success in a campaign to get more pupils walking to school which landed an award.
An initiative, which launched in September 2015, encourages Hatch Warren Infant and Junior School to walk or use other green methods of transport to clear road congestion and make a safer school environment.
On October 19, borough councillor Terri Reid and county councillor Stephen Reid presented the infant school with a Gold Modeshift award for its work in the road safety Be Safe Be Seen campaign and promoting sustainable travel.
On the same day, the Hampshire County Council’s School Travel Team made a fact-finding trail for pupils walking to the school linked to air pollution during which the children collected clues and answered questions.
Basil the Bird, the mascot of Be Safe Be Seen campaign, came to meet the children.
