FESTIVE fundraisers will be doing the Jingle Bell Rock around Basingstoke while running to raise money for charity.

Thanks to a partnership between Pelican Cancer Foundation and The Breeze, runners taking part in this year’s Festive Fun Run for the charity will have their festive feel-good favourites blasted out as hundreds of jolly Santas get under starter’s orders for a 5km or 2.5km fun run on Sunday, 10 December.

This is the first time the Festive Fun Run has been be held in Basingstoke for more than five years, and the cancer charity is expecting to see a sea of red and white running across the town.

The run gets underway from War Memorial Park, with all the money raised going towards funding Pelican’s vital work.

The charity funds clinical research into advancing precision surgery in the treatment of bowel, liver, bladder and prostate cancers.

Sarah Crane, chief executive at Pelican Cancer Foundation, said: “There will be plenty of Christmas cheer and music from The Breeze to make sure everybody stays on track around the course - making the event one of the highlights of the town’s seasonal calendar.

“Pelican is proud to bring the festive fun run to the local community, so please sign up now – either individually, with family and friends, or in a team. You will be supporting our charity while earning those extra mince pies this Christmas.”

The Breeze presenters will be leading the warm-up, getting the run under way and have pledged to keep the Yuletide fun going until all the Santas have crossed the finish line.

Men, women and children, from the age of six upwards, are invited to sign up for the event and all runners will receive a Santa suit to wear around the course and a medal for taking part.

For people looking to take part, there is an early bird discount for those who register today (Friday). To register, go to eventbrite.com/e/festive-fun-run-tickets-36539992100.
