POLICE have released a CCTV image of a man they are looking for in connection with a theft.
Officers want to speak to the man as part of their investigation into an incident which saw a 76-year-old man lose £700.
The victim was travelling on his mobility scooter in Worting Road, near the bridge over the ring road, between 1pm and 1.30pm on Thursday 7 September. when he was approached by two men.
One of the men asked the victim if he had dropped a £20 note. As he took the note, the victim noticed the other man reaching into his coat pocket.
Both men then ran off in the direction of Western Way.
The elderly man noticed his bank card was missing and later reported the incident to his bank. He found the card had been used to withdraw £700 at the Barclays Bank branch in Market Place.
PCSO Ryan Long said: “Were you in the area at the time? Perhaps you saw what happened, or saw two men running towards Western Way?
“Maybe you recognise the man in the CCTV image? If so, please get in touch.”
One of the men is described as white, early 40s, of stocky build, dark hair, wearing dark-coloured trousers, a white t-shirt and a rain coat with second man is described as white, short and thin.
