A WOMAN approaching her 70th birthday is planning to do a wing-walk and the Great North run in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Linda Hilson, who lives in Old Basing, will turn 70 years-old on February 18 next year, but before this milestone, she planning on doing a wing-walk on a plane at Chiltern Air Park, in Wallingford, on October 1 for charity.

Linda said: "For many years I have wanted to do wing walking, the first time I watched it was when my husband was in the forces and we went to the Middle Wallop Air Day.

"Back then I was in my early twenties and have wanted to do it ever since!

"My husband has bought me a wing walking experience for my birthday, so I can fulfil my wish from so long ago!"

She is raising money for Cancer Research UK which is a cause that is very close to her heart.

She added: “I have decided to do this in aid of Cancer Research, which is very dear to my heart as my mum and aunt both died of cancer only weeks apart, and I am also currently in remission from a malignant melanoma cancer.”

Linda is also taking on the Great North Run on September 10 where she will be running in a Cancer Research vest to raise awareness.

She said: " I have been training very hard for the Great North Run and it was so good to receive my running vest the other day."

Supporters are being invited to watch Linda as she does her wing walk in October, and also to her Great North Run attempt.

A JustGiving page has been set up to allow people to donate to the charity and help support Linda's fundraising efforts. She hopes to raise £725 from both efforts.
