A MAN with serious cuts to his head, legs and hands was found in Basingstoke on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old was found Westray Close, Oakridge around 10.44pm on August 23.

The victim was taken to Basingstoke hospital for treatment for his injuries which were described as serious, but not life threatening.

An investigation has begun to establish how the man came to be injured.

Police are linking the attack to a robbery which happened around 1.25am on August 24.

A 16-year-old boy and a 46-year-old woman were walking on a path between Churchill Way and Sinclair Drive when they were assaulted by a man they did not know. He was described as being around 5ft 10ins tall and wearing dark clothing.

A handbag was stolen in the robbery. Neither victim suffered any serious injury.
