THERE were lots of smiling faces today as students in Basingstoke opened their envelopes to see how they did in their A-level exams.

Queen Mary's College revealed that of their around 2,000 entries that they had in the year, there was a 99 per cent pass rate.

76 per cent of the results were A*-C.

The extended project, which supplements higher education skills while the students are doing their A-levels, also saw some very good results. 65 per cent of the results came back with an A*-B.

29 subjects had a 100 per cent pass rate.

AS level results were also given out today, with 60 per cent of students getting A-C.

Six out of the eight BTEC level three courses saw a 100 per cent pass rate.

Sherfield School recorded that 51 per cent of A Level grades at A* to B. 

There were particularly strong results in Maths and Further Maths, with 80 per cent and 90 per cent of results graded at A* to B respectively.
