EARLY years pupils at Castle Hill Infant School were recently given a lesson in construction safety thanks to a local housebuilding firm.

Linden Homes visited the school in Winklebury Way along with their mascot Ivor Goodsite, to discuss how construction affects the pupils’ lives and the world they live in.

Pupils were able to learn what it means to be a local housebuilder, and some of the tricks of the trade that they will need to know, should they ever wish to one day pursue a career in the sector.

The session included a short presentation from the team and Ivor himself, as well as an interactive session where the children were able to try their hand at housebuilding using the school’s very own outdoor construction area, with Ivor guiding them through the process.

Suzanne Irons, sales and marketing director for Linden Homes Thames Valley said: “We were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet the pupils and staff at Castle Hill Infant School, and get to know the people that live and learn in Basingstoke.

“Our Longacre development is located in a prominent position in the town, and we were keen to introduce ourselves to the local community.”

She added: “We were very lucky to have Ivor Goodsite come along to our visit to teach the children more about the construction industry and all of the things they need to know about housebuilding.

“The children were entertained throughout the presentation and we had a great time answering their questions and telling them more about construction. We are looking forward to working further with the school in the future and teaching the children more about construction and housebuilding.”

The visit to Castle Hill Infant School comes as part of Linden Homes Thames Valley’s ongoing commitment to enriching and enhancing the communities within which it is building.

Early years leader at Castle Hill Infant, Charlotte Robbins added: “The children had a great time hearing from the Linden Homes team and Ivor Goodsite, and were hugely engaged with the entire presentation, taking a great deal from it. We were very pleased to welcome the team in to our school to give the children an insight into construction and housebuilding and hope to work with the Linden Homes team again in the future.
