THE Morrisons Foundation have awarded the Basingstoke branch of Parkinson’s UK a grant of £900 to support their work.
The money will be used to continue the funding of information and support seminars that are held at the Ark Conference Centre, for Basingstoke patients who have been diagnosed with the degenerative brain condition.
Around 300 people are living with the condition in the Basingstoke area, and it is to raise nationally by 20 per cent by 2020.
Morrison’s Naomi Hodgson handed over the cheque to Julian Strong, the Basingstoke branch’s group fundraiser with HCC Councillor Elaine Still and Len Potts, a Parkinson’s patient.
Cllr Still said: “I applaud the work that work that members of Parkinson’s UK Basingstoke Branch do to raise funding and awareness of this debilitating disease which also affects younger adults too.”
