A FAMILY has paid tribute to a "loving" Basingstoke motorcyclist who died following a collision on a major Hampshire road.

Mark Copley, 51, of Cherry Tree Walk, Oakridge died in Southampton General Hospital on May 10, after being involved in a crash on the eastbound carriageway of the A27.

The initial incident took place on April 30, at 12.10pm, when Mr Copley was taken to Southampton General Hospital but later died in hospital.

In a statement from the 51-year-olds family it read: “He was a loving husband and a great dad, who will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.”

At the time the road was closed from the M27 at junction 12 to the A27 Eastern Road junction following the crash.

Investigations into the collision are ongoing and police are appealing to anyone with any information to contact the serious collision investigation team.

A 32-year-old man, from Havant, was arrested in connection with this incident and was released but remains under investigation.
