A GROUP of youngsters assaulted a man who was cycling home on Saturday.
The 44-year-old victim was cycling home from Basingstoke railway station when a group of three or four youths assaulted him, knocking him to the ground and sustaining cuts to the head and body.
He was taken to Basingstoke hospital for treatment but was later discharged.
The incident took place sometime between 12.15am and 12.35am on April 29, when the man was cycling on the path which runs from Queen Mary Avenue to Sutton Road.
Detective Constable Dan Leese, of Basingstoke CID, said: “We are at an early stage in the investigation and want to hear from anyone who has information about what happened.
“It took place in the alleyway next to the houses in Gower Close, and The Vyne Community School.”
