FORMER students of Charles Chute School, now called The Vyne Community School, are being invited to a special old boys reunion this May.
Charles Chute School served the local community during the 1960s and 1970s, before merging with Queen Mary’s Grammar School to become the school it is today.
Following the success of last year’s reunion – in which 20 former pupils gathered to meet for the first time in 30-years –another meeting has been scheduled for May 20 at The Red Lion Hotel, in London Street.
Paul Harmsworth, one of the event organisers, said: “We immediately connected with friends we had lost touch with all those years ago and the camaraderie was tangible.”
Fellow co-organiser, John Leete, one of the organisers, said: “None of us are getting any younger but we can remember our school days and the town before the early days redevelopment.”
“A different era, of course, but one most of us I think look back on with affection.”
The event has been arranged by the newly formed Charles Chute Old Association.
It will include a presentation by Dave Webb, of the popular Basingstoke Through the Years history network, plus music and a buffet.
If you are a former pupil of Charles Chute School, or have a family member or friend who is, contact the organisers by emailing Paul on harmsy_p@yahoo.co.uk or 07954149695.
