A TADLEY woman who lost nine stone is now looking to use her success story to inspire others.

Jill McKay joined her local Slimming World group 14 months ago and has dropped from 21stone 9lbs to 12 stone 9lbs.

Now Mrs McKay has trained as a consultant for Slimming World, the UK’s largest group based weight loss organisation, at their national academy in Derbyshire and has set up her own weight loss group Ambrose Allen Centre, in Franklin Avenue on Friday mornings at 9.30am.

“Having been overweight since I was 12, it seemed completely normal to me to just carry on how I was,” said the mother-of-two.

“After years of eating unhealthily and after having two wonderful children I weighed in at 21 stone and 9lbs.

“In the past my weight has caused me so much embarrassment and health issues, from not fitting in a ride at a theme park, to dislocating my knees numerous times mostly due to the strain of excess weight.”

The final straw for Mrs McKay was a photo of her in a pedalo with her aunt and son, which made her decide she needed to make a change and began going to Slimming World.

She added: “I was so anxious and embarrassed but as soon as I walked in I felt so much more at ease.

“Everyone was laughing and chatting together and my consultant Emma welcomed me straight away.

“After seeing her amazing story and hearing the slimming world formula for success I started to think maybe this could work.”

During her time attending the groups Mrs McKay was awarded the greatest loser, but said the biggest change she noticed was her confidence. The latest government figures reveal that one in four adults are obese and it is estimated that by 2034, this will increase to one in three.

Mrs McKay’s first class will be held on April 21, for more information contact 07769201106.
