POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a robbery attempt in Basingstoke.
Between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Thursday April 20, a 22-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man she did not know in a park off Shakespeare Road.
The man then made an unsuccessful attempt to grab the woman’s handbag from her, before leaving the scene on foot in the direction of the children’s play park.
The woman fell to the floor and sustained an injury to her arm during the incident.
Nothing was stolen.
The man has been described as:
• White
• Between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins tall.
• Muscular
• Wearing a black hooded top with the hood up
• Dark tracksuit bottoms
• White trainers
Officers would like to hear from any witnesses, or anyone who saw a man matching this description acting suspiciously in the area at this time.
