SPRING has truly sprung following the success of Overton Lambing Weekend.

The annual event took place in aid of Lordsfield Swimming Club in Overton and attracted about 500 guests to Northington Farm, who enjoyed some of the warmest weather so far this year.

Just under £1,800 was raised in aid of the Lordsfield Swimming Club, which will be opening for the summer in May, with the final total still to be counted.

Chair of the Lordsfield Swimming Pool, Lauren McCann, said: “The lambing weekend is always a brilliant event in our club’s fundraising calendar and a real community effort.

“I’d like to thank everyone associated, but especially Mr and Mrs Crosbie Dawson, who kindly allow for the club to be involved and use it to fund raise for Overton’s swimming pool, and also Mindy Noble who brilliantly leads on behalf of the club to put on a highly organised and enjoyable weekend.

“The Whittesley family always play a key role too so huge thanks again to them. I popped along to help out for a couple of hours and had a great time in the spring sunshine.”

As well as the experience of watching the lambs being born, there was also a cake stall, and refreshments available, which were all available for the benefit of the Swimming Club. Event organiser Mindy Noble said: “We had a great turnout and fantastic weather and as always we had great support from the community with baking and helping on the day.

“The Co-op in Overton also donated items for the raffle and for the refreshment stall so a big thank you to them. The real stars are the Crosbie Dawsons as they get everything ready for the visitors. We are really grateful to them for letting us run the event again this year.”
