A RESIDENTIAL care home in Oakley celebrated in style after being commended by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) on its standard of care.

Oak Lodge, in Oakley, had a tea party last week to celebrate its achievement in getting the CQC’s highest rating. About 200 people attended, including former and current residents and staff, their relations, and the care home’s suppliers.

The director of Forest Care Ltd, the company that owns and runs the care home, Mark Vickery, said: “I am absolutely delighted with this fantastic achievement. This hardearned accreditation is well deserved after all the work that we have put in. I couldn’t be more pleased that we’ve got the Outstanding rating.”

The 60-bed care home, located in Rectory Road, Oakley, cares for older adults with physical disabilities, dementia, or long-term health conditions.

The unannounced inspection happened on August 2 and 3, 2016, where the inspectors checked documentation, spoke to staff and residents, and reviewed the staff ’s practices.

Registered manager Grace Adan said: “It’s all down to the hard work of the dedicated staff here. It makes all the difference that people know the attention to detail that we put in here.”

The report praised the care home on several of the key categories of the inspection, with three of the five important areas that the CQC inspected receiving outstanding, including the leadership of the home, the effectiveness of the care, and the way the caring service was provided by staff.

The report said: “People received outstanding care from sensitive, loving staff who consistently placed people at the heart of everything they did to ensure all tasks were completed to an excellent standard. Staff were highly respectful at all times.”
