A VILLAGE’S St George’s Day celebrations are set to be given a financial boost thanks to one of the UK’s leading housebuilders.

The St George’s Day Fete in Bramley has received £1,000 from property developer Charles Church and residents will be out in force for this year’s staging on Saturday, April 29.

The event is arranged by the Clift Meadow Trust and St James’ Church and seen as the ideal opportunity for hundreds of local residents to get together every year.

Sarah Stubbs, of the Clift Meadow Park Trust, said: “People are so busy these days that it is easy for residents of a local area to lose that community feel.

“We are determined to do everything we can to prevent that happening in Bramley and the St George’s Day Fete is a successful way of bringing the community together.

“It’s a major event in the Bramley calendar and one that generates a wonderful atmosphere in the village.

“We are thrilled with the donation from Charles Church which will go towards supporting local groups running stalls and providing attractions and entertainment at the event.”

Rachel Faulkner, sales director at Charles Church Thames Valley which has its St James’ Park site in Bramley, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the St George’s Day Fete.

“From our experience of developments in the area, we are aware of the spirit which exists in Bramley and it is events like this which maintain it.

“Hopefully this will go a long way to ensuring the 2017 event is one to remember.”
