A NEW headteacher will be taking over at Daneshill School from September 2017.

David Griffiths is set to take over the school’s top job from the start of the school year, moving from his old job in St John’s On-The Hill in Chepstow where he had been acting headmaster and deputy head since January 2015.

The keen sportsman and musician will be relocating from Chepstow with his wife Becky, who is a school teacher, and their three young children – Lucy 6, Llywelyn, 3, and Gwenllian, 1.

Graduating with a BA in Ancient and Medieval History from the University of Cardiff, Mr Griffiths has held prestigious posts at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls and Howell’s School in Cardiff.

Daneshill is an independent school in Stratfield Turgis, near Hook for boys and girls aged three to 13 years old.

Over the last few years, the efforts and talents of the school’s year eight pupils has been recognised by some of the leading secondary schools in the country with awards being won to Lord Wandsworth College and Wellington College.

Mr Griffiths will replace Mr Jonathan Wansey as the head. Mr Griffiths said: “I am delighted and honoured to be joining Daneshill School and its community.

“I have been extremely impressed by the qualities and energies of the children as well as the passion of the staff.

“I’m looking forward to an exciting future at the school; building on past successes and continuing to cement the school as one of the leading co-educational prep schools in the area.”
