A COMMUNITY association is to receive a £250 grant to support services for older people in Basingstoke.

Domiciliary care provider, Bluebird Care Hook, awarded the charity Viables Community Association a new community grant to enable them to purchase new games and equipment for their Memory Club which will benefit older members of the community living with dementia.

The majority of the 30-35 members of the weekly Memory Club, which meets on a Friday, are over 65 and the club helps them stay as physically active as possible in a safe and secure environment.

Director Phil Miles said: “We are thrilled to support this very exciting and worthwhile project.

“At Bluebird Care, we understand the need to look at the health and wellbeing of the whole person and this project reflects this very well.”

Luan Squire, centre manager for the Viables Community Association said: “We are very grateful to the team at Bluebird Care for awarding us this grant.”

Bluebird Care Hook will be running further grant schemes later in 2017.
