A BASINGSTOKE filmmaker is calling on the support of the community to help get his latest project off the ground.

Geoff Harmer recently launched a Kickstarter campaign in a bid to gain funding for his new film Dead Air.

The film follows the story of Monster Kitten, an all female punk rock band, who end up on a flight with some nasty little creatures who like to bite and infect their victims to the point of all hell breaks loose at 30,000 feet.

With each pledge to support the film opening up unique opportunities to those who donate, people can get anything from exclusive content to even appearing in the film.

“The idea with the Kickstarter is that for whatever you put in you get something back,” the 44-year-old told The Gazette.

“Basically we need to raise a minimum of £20,000 to shoot the film, and we are hoping that people will get involved in this project.

“We will have exclusive Snapchat videos that people will have log-ins for, and the more you pledge more, the more you can do, from being an executive producer to having a walk on role in the film.”

Mr Harmer, from Black Dam, has everything in place for the film, including cast and location, and is now hoping film lovers in Basingstoke will support the project.

Having had success with previous short films such as Selfie, Mr Harmer is hoping if Dead Air gets the traction it needs it could be turned into a feature film.

He added: “We have already got the drafts of a feature length script in the works and everyone involved in the project is really excited about how things could plan out.

“One thing I have learnt is that this campaign is not going to be as easy as I thought, but I really hope people see the potential in it and help us out.”

So far the project has raised just over £2,500 and has until March 19 to hit its target. To donate to the film click here.
