A FIRE in South Ham has damaged nearly half of the ground floor of a resident's home this afternoon.

Two fire crews from Basingstoke were called to a fire at a home in Pinkerton Road at around 12.50pm this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said that 40 per cent of the ground floor of the mid terrace house was damaged by the fire.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus and two hose reels to tackle the blaze, and the fire was out by 1.34pm.
