OVERTON can look forward to a new event as the Overton Beer Festival is announced for the area.

A group of enthusiasts came together to organise the Firkins and Fizz Festival to take place in April this year, with more than 20 beers and eight ciders for people to enjoy.

“There was a lot of interest in putting on a beer festival in Overton,”

said Mark Winter, one of the organisers, “so me and a group of my friends decided to organise one after the CAMRA festivals stopped.”

There will be local brews on tap, as companies like Longdog Brewery will be showing off their drink selection.

The drink choice is not limited to beer – cider will be available and a prosecco bar.

Basingstoke-based covers band Never Too Late will be playing on the Friday of the festival, and Gary Myles will be playing on the Saturday.

The festival takes place on April 21 and 22, in St Mary’s Hall, in the High Street, Overton.

Tickets are £8 and available in the Overton Gallery, The Old House at Home and via overtonbeerfestival.co.uk. A contribution from the proceeds will go to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
