TWO more people have been arrested as part of Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Fortress campaign.

The operation saw seven warrants carried in properties across Basingstoke on Monday, January 16 as part of the operation targeting drug-related crime.

As previously reported by The Gazette, a 43-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were arrested for being in possession of class A drugs.

Now, police have arrested a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, both from Basingstoke, today on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

Officers found stolen property, including a sat nav, during a search at a house in Oakridge Road.

Inspector Ben Taylor, from the Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “These warrants underline our commitment to keep our communities safe from drug-related crime.

“Drug-dealing will not be tolerated in Basingstoke and we will continue to disrupt dealers’ activities.

“These warrants were carried out in part through concerns raised by the local community. This help is vital – if we don’t know about it, we can’t act on it.”
