FAMILIES gathered in Festival Place to get a glimpse of Santa Claus as he went through the shopping centre as part of the annual Christmas parade.

On Sunday afternoon the shopping centre was given a wintry makeover as Santa Claus was joined by many of his festive friends as residents were out getting their Christmas shopping.

The parade started in Porchester Square, before making its way through the shopping centre, featuring Jack Frost, the Ice Queen and of course Santa himself.

For the second year running the shopping centre, which has more than 160 big brands including Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Zara, Topshop and H&M, has decided to embrace the holiday season by changing its name in the run up to Christmas from Festival Place to ‘Festive Place’ to help spread the Christmas cheer.

The parade is part of the centre’s festive countdown to Christmas, which aims to keep shoppers in the festive spirit throughout December.
