BRINGING a diverse range of influences to the table has helped The Black Bullets forge rock’n’roll shaped path in the Basingstoke music scene.

The five-piece which is made up for Alex Barret, Skinn Klick, Lance Skybaby, Billy T and Carl Donoghue claim to have hip-hop, country, metal and punk rock among their influences.

“We have been described as the rock version of the Spice Girls,” said drummer Carl.

“We are all very different individuals, but when we get together something just clicks and it seems to work.

“I think it is one of our strengths as a band, with all the different influences and different personalities, it keeps everything exciting and fresh when it comes to writing music.”

Originally formed in 2012 the band has gone through a number of line-up changes, with the current formation of the Black Bullets being in place for just over a year.

As the only original member left, Carl from Beggarwood, told The Gazette there has been no luck when it comes to the punk outfit just hard work.

He said: “When we first started it was a lot of work getting gigs, just constantly asking promoters for shows.

“Luckily Basingstoke caters for quite a wide range of musical genres, so things slowly started to pick up.”

Now the band part inundated with bookings and their music has stretched as far as America and Australia.

As these fans further afield may not have the opportunity to see the quintet rock out live, and this is why the band decided to release the music video for the track Riding Shotgun.

“Our audience is not just restricted to Basingstoke, we have fans all over the world, and this gives them something to check out online because they may not necessarly be able to come see us live,” added the man who supplies the bands beating rhythm.

“But it has set the standard for our next video as we don’t want to go back to just five guys standing in front of a camera.”

The Black Bullets will be playing a special acoustic set at Basingstoke’s Oktoberfest, where Carl says the band will have the chance to put a different spin onto their songs.
