A BIKE which was used to raise hundreds of pounds for charity has been stolen from a property in Basingstoke.

Police believe the blue and white racing bike was stolen from a garage in Lomond Close, Oakley, on Saturday evening, but it could have been taken anytime between 5pm on Friday and 9pm on Saturday evening.

The thieves also stole a container of petrol from the garage.

Officers say the bike is quite distinctive as it was used during the Prudential 100 charity ride on July 31, resulting in it being covered in stickers saying “100”.

PCSO Andy Jones said: “We would like to speak to anyone who thinks they may have seen this bike within the last week or has seen a bike matching this description for sale online.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind cyclists to take a note of the unique serial number on your bike, so that if it is stolen and later recovered, we can return it to you.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PCSO Andy Jones on 101, quoting 44160313643, or call Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
