THIS is the e-fit image of a man who is accused of sexually assaulting a 55-year-old woman in Basingstoke.

Following up on an earlier appeal, the police investigation team has issued this image in the hope that someone will recognise the suspect.

A 55-year-old woman was walking along the path that runs behind the Worting Road Cemetery, sometime between 10.20am and 10.30am on June 29, when a man in a hooded top approached her.

The man slapped her on the face before sexually assaulting her. This stopped when the victim’s dog bit the man.

He is described as being a white male, aged in his late teens or early 20s and around 5ft 9ins tall.

He wore a black hooded top with the hood up.

Detective Constable Dan Leese, of Basingstoke CID, said: “We know that this e-fit doesn’t show the whole of the suspect’s face but we hope that if you know this person, you will recognise some of the features shown.

“This is a rare incident to take place in Basingstoke, and we would like anyone with information about what happened to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Leese on 101, quoting 44160241704, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
