JUMPING 13,000ft out of a plane isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, but for one Basingstoke resident it was a thrill that has pushed her to do more work for charity.

This is exactly what 24-year-old Louisa Emery decided to do as part of her drive to raise money for the mental health charity Solent MIND.

The former Miss Hampshire contestant said: “The work that MIND do is so important and it is something I am really passionate about and I want to continue to support them.

“Doing the skydive has really given me the confidence to do more to support the charity, now I just need to look at different ways I can help raise money.

“I did a community fair last year, which was really good as a lot of people got involved and my family were great helping out with stalls and raffles.”

Louisa, who lives near the town centre, took part in the skydive on May 1, at Old Sarum Airfield, Salisbury and raised £570 for the charity.

The money will help the charity improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental conditions.

Louisa said: “When you are travelling at 120mph through the air you don’t really think about how high you are. I definitely want to do something like this again.

“I am already thinking about what different things I can do to support the charity.”
