IN MANY ways Harrison Loosen is just like any other four-year-old, playing games and having fun with his twin brother Connor and older sister Summer.

However, his parents Phil and Julie noticed that Harrison was having trouble walking upstairs and was unable to run properly.

In November 2015 Harrison was diagnosed with Becker muscular dystrophy, which causes slow progressive muscle weakness of the legs and pelvis.

Since then the family has set up the Hope4Harriosn family fund, which aims to raise £5,000 per year for the next three years to help find a cure for MD. Harrison’s dad Phil told The Gazette: “We were devastated at the time as it was shortly after Harrison and Connor’s birthday.

“We had never heard of this form of muscular dystrophy, but we knew we had to do everything we could to support Harrison.”

The Loosen family who live in Wellington Crescent, Baughurst, came across the work of Muscular Dystrophy UK and the support the charity gives to families with a family member with MD.

“All the money we raise will go towards research and helping to find a cure,” Phil added.

“They charity has given us lots of support, so anything we can do to help we will.”

Since setting up Hope4Harrison, the Loosens have already raised nearly £2,000.

The family has several events planned, including charity cycle rides and a race night, which is all leading up to six-a-side football tournament, which will be held at Thatcham Football Club on July 31. Visit musculardystrophyuk. org/get-involved/family-funds/ funds/hope4harrison for more details.
