A BASINGSTOKE dentist has risen to fame after his parody songs featured in The Gazette.

Dr Milad Shadrooh, better known as The Singing Dentist, found himself propelled into the spotlight after his hilarious videos about dental hygiene went viral on YouTube.

Back in February, The Gazette explained how Dr Milad, who runs Chequers Dental Surgery in Basingstoke, had been creating a series of educational and funny videos which promote dental hygiene, to songs including Pharrell Williams’ Happy and Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Since then, Dr Milad has appeared on BBC South Today, Meridian and even took a spot filling in for fellow Basingstoke doctor Hilary Jones on Lorraine’s sofa.

Most recently, he also appeared on Good Morning Britain alongside Ben Shepherd and Kate Garaway to discuss the importance of dental hygiene for kids and on This Morning with Eamon Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Now, Dr Milad is back with a special competition for the people of Basingstoke.

After weeks of being asked for selfies whilst wandering around the town, Dr Milad has decided to launch #singingdentistselfie.

He is encouraging people to grab a selfie with him if they spot him out in Festival Place (not in an appointment - sorry folks), post it on social media using the hashtag.

The first five people to post a selfie will win a Philips Sonicare Toothbrush, worth around £100.

"The support so far has been really overwhelming and I am so pleased that we are raising the awareness of important dental issues in a fun and positive way.

"Thank you to the team at the Gazette for your continued support and the people of "Amazingstoke"!

"I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and taking the #singingdentistselfie!!"

So. Basingstoke. Watch out - Mil's about.
