A BASINGSTOKE teenager is among five people who were arrested after a brawl outside a Thatcham pub.

The 17-year-old was arrested after being accused of playing a part in a fight outside The Mill in Bradley-Moore Square on April 17.

Thames Valley Police reported that five to eight people become involved in an argument in the smoking area of the pub between 12.15am and 12.45am.

The argument then escalated into a fight, which saw a 52-year-old man being knocked to the floor and lost consciousness.

A 44-year-old man also sustained a cut to the back of his head during the scuffle after he rushed to the aid of another man who had been knocked to the ground.

Both men we taken to Royal Berkshire hospital to receive treatment for their injuries, but were later discharged.

The group of teenagers, which included two 18-year-olds, an 19-year-old and a second 17-year-old – all from Thatcham, have been arrested on suspicion of causing assault occasioning actual bodily harm along with the Basingstoke teenager.

None of the five suspects have been named, although the group are all described as being in their late teens to mid-twenties, while one was wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.

Officers are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the altercation to come forward with any information they may have.

Investigating officer PC Christopher Andrews, from Newbury CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information about what happened.

“If you have any details which could assist officers with enquiries, please contact police.”

All five suspects have now been bailed until May 4.
