AFTER experiencing a traumatic labour with her daughter, a Tadley mum has vowed to support other mums who have a premature or sick baby.

Rachel Mann, of Hythe Close, is preparing to take part in the London Marathon this Sunday, in a bid to raise money for the charity Bliss.

The personal trainer had to have an emergency caesarean section in January 2015, to deliver her daughter Lucy.

When she was born she had trouble breathing and was immediately rushed to the neonatal unit.

It was later revealed that Rachel had been carrying a Group B Strep infection, which Lucy had been exposed to, which led to her struggling with her breathing.

Rachel said she wanted to support the charity so mums who go through a similar situation to her will have the best support possible.

She said: “One evening I saw a leaflet about the work Bliss do to support families with premature and sick babies, and vowed I would fundraise for them in the future.

“My family realise that we are the lucky ones, we didn’t need Bliss’ support. Some families are not so lucky.”

So far in a bid to reach her target of £2,500, along with running the London Marathon, the 39-year-old has held an eight hour netball match and taken part in an eight hour spinning session.
