A YOUNG man who was found dead near the train tracks in Old Basing on Tuesday morning has been named as Daniel Mark Nicholson.
North East Hampshire Coroner Andrew Bradley confirmed he opened an inquest into the death of the 20-year-old yesterday.
A train driver discovered a body near the tracks on Tuesday, and alerted a signal guard who flagged it up to British Transport Police.
Tributes have flooded in for Daniel, from Basingstoke, as people reacted with shock to the news of his death.
Hundreds of people have left tributes to Daniel on Facebook.
Ella Mae Mcmurray said: "Dan was a kind young man who, when I had the pleasure of going to Cliddesden Primary School with him, was a soul not to be forgotten. I am still in shock. Rest in peace Dan."
Emily Andrew added: "RIP Dan, you were always such a lovely kid growing up with you and your brother was an absolute pleasure."
Robbie Gregory posted: "One of the best midfielders I've ever played with, was a pleasure to play in the same team because you was a solid player. Thoughts are with his friends and family, going to be missed. RIP mate."
Jo Knight said: "Such very sad news. I remember his smiley face as a young boy, who I was privileged to know as he grew up. I can't imagine what his family are going through, my thoughts are with them at this very sad time."
