POLICE are appealing for information after a report of an assault on a woman that took place near a subway in Basingstoke.
The incident took place at around 6.35am on Tuesday, November 24, near Freemantle Close, Oakridge, on a path that leads to Basing View.
As the 46-year-old woman walked along the path, a man stepped out from behind some bushes and grabbed her forearm.
He then started to drag her towards a nearby subway, but the woman managed to wriggle free and ran away.
The man is described as:
- White,
- Aged 25 to 30 years
- Short, dark hair
- Approximately 6ft tall
- Marking on the right side of his face, near to his mouth, which is either a scratch or a mole
- Eastern European accent
DC Dawn Jenks, of Basingstoke police station, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this man at the time, or who knows who he is, to contact us.
“This is a well used footpath and we would urge residents who use it to be vigilant and report anyone who is acting suspiciously.”
