VILLAGERS have raised hundreds of pounds for a charity which supports women with an incurable condition.

Inspired by Overton mum Kathryn Batten, who suffers from endometriosis, residents have taken part in sporting events and organised activities in aid of Endometriosis UK.

Paula Potter and Ruth Williams ran The Great South Run in October, raising £375 for the cause, and members of Maximum Fitness held a Hallowe’en fancy dress party for the charity, which pulled in £200.

Kayley Easterbrook, who set up Maximum Fitness, said: “I am very proud of everyone in our training community for their effort, generosity and valuable contribution. I look forward to continuing our good work and making a positive difference where it really matters."

Kathryn, who was has been battling with endometriosis for more than 30 years, said: “Both of these fundraisers have come out of the awareness in the community of what I went through this year health wise. People who know me now know that endometriosis is potentially life threatening.”

She added: “Endometriosis UK have supported both my family and me through some extremely difficult times, including recently having three operations in as many months after the disease got hold of my lungs, liver and multiple organs."

“Endometriosis impacts the whole family but we are fortunate to have had the support of wonderful friends and Endometriosis UK.”
