CONSULATION is underway on the pre-submission of a Neighbourhood Plan for Odiham and North Warnborough.

The plan will be used to find sites to accommodate target housing numbers allocated to the parish by Hart District Council and is the first formal consultation on a blueprint for land use in the parish until 2032.

Following extensive consultation with the public, the plan proposes seven sites for housing development in line with the community’s preference for small to medium-sized sites.

The selected sites are land at or next to Longwood, Western Lane, Crumplins Yard, Albion Yard, Dunleys Hill, Hook Road and adjacent to Crownfields.

The plan prioritises small dwellings and acknowledges the demand for affordable housing, proposing to reserve a proportion for those applicants with local connections.

The land next to Dunleys Hill includes a large area of public open space to be given to Odiham Parish Council with a minimal housing scheme.

Other initiatives include a high-dependency care home next to Crownfields.

There will be space left between Odiham and North Warnborough, and North Warnborough and Greywell, to avoid these areas from merging as one.

The plan also offers the option to designate some areas as green spaces, these are at Close Meadow, Dunleys Hill, Hockleys Farm, Kitchen Garden, land behind Beech Cottage, part of the Deer Park and land next to Archery Fields.

The community’s other most valued open spaces – The Canal and Odiham and North Warnborough Commons – already benefit from protection.

As well as policies relating to land use, there are aims and proposals in the plan to be funded by the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) such as cycle routes, enhancing the canal area for recreation and upgrading King Street toilets.

The pre-submission plan can be read in full online at onwardplan.com/presub and paper copies can be read at Odiham Parish Council offices, Odiham Library, Next Door at the George, WACC at RAF Odiham, The Anchor, The Purcell Rooms, and The Mill House in North Warnborough. Comments should be made by noon on November 30.
